Ava DuVernay’s A Wrinkle in Time has officially hit theaters this weekend (March 9), with its accompanying motion picture soundtrack also now available.
The star-studded soundtrack features seven original songs by the likes of Sade, DJ Khaled and Demi Lovato, Sia, Kehlani, Chloe x Halle and Freestyle Fellowship, as well as includes the score by composer Ramin Djawadi.
While each contribution is a special one, the track Sade created especially stands out, with the song doubling as the beloved singer-songwriter’s first music offering since 2010’s Soldier of Love.
“I never thought she’d say yes, but asked anyway. She was kind + giving. A goddess. We began a journey together that I’ll never forget,” DuVernay tweeted in celebration. “Proud to announce that Sade has created an original song for WRINKLE IN TIME. It’s entitled ‘Flower of the Universe.’ And it’s a dream come true.”
The film, which is based on the novel by Madeline L’Engle, stars Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling and more.
