This Wednesday, she released a dulcet single titled “Mariners Apartment Complex,” and the visuals couldn’t come soon enough. The clip features various, artful scenes of the waves int the ocean, a butterfly and candid shots Rey and a female companion shot ina timeless black and white. The musician is expected to drop her next single from her upcoming project Venice Bitch,” on September 18th while fans will have to wait until next year to hear the project in its entirety.
Along with releasing new music, Rey has been performing around the world and recently made headlines for her decision to cancel a performance in Israel. When these plans were announced, activists from various nations contacted Rey and urged her not to cancel in protest against the nation’s treatment of the Palestinian people. Similar requests were directed to Lorde who received a moving open letter composed by both a Jewish and a Palestinian activist. In the week before the performance, Rey finally decided to cancel the appearance, stating it was “important to perform in both Israel and Palestine and treat all my fans equally,” and that she would not perform in one country if she couldn’t perform in the other.
