Michael Jackson Earns 30th Hot 100 Top 10 Thanks To Drake’s ‘Don’t Matter To Me’

Proving he is the undisputed king of popular music, Michael Jackson is back on the Billboard Hot 100 chart thanks to his feature on Drake’s “Don’t Matter to Me” debuting at number nine, Billboard reports. The Drake collaboration marks the music legend’s fourth posthumous song to enter the Hot 100, with 2014’s “Slave to the Rhythm” as its predecessor. “Don’t Matter to Me” is from Drake’s fifth album, Scorpion, which ended up breaking the record for the biggest week of consumption along with debuting at number one.

The obviously prerecorded vocals of Jackson heard on the song were originally recorded in the eighties. In 1983, Canadian singer-songwriter Paul Anka had a recording session with Michael in which the manifestations ended up being shelved and untouched. Audio from the recording session was not released until after Jackson’s death with songs “This Is It” and “Love Never Felt So Good.” According to Genius, Anka has received writing credits on “Don’t Matter to Me.” Clearly, the “I’m Upset” artist wanted some vintage Michael.

Jackson is the fifth artist to hit the Hot 100 Top 10 milestone with Madonna in the lead with 38, followed by the Beatles at 34, and Drake and Rihanna are currently tied at 31 with his new additions “Nonstop,” “In My Feelings,” “I’m Emotionless,” “I’m Upset,” and “Don’t Matter to Me” as contributors to the reach.
