Kanye West and Kim Kardashian have finally revealed the name of their third child. According to the reality television star-turned-entrepreneur, their new daughter’s name is Chicago West, an homage to Kanye’s hometown. Her nickname will be Chi.
Kardashian shared the news on Friday (Jan. 19), simply writing “Chicago West” on her website. Chi was born via surrogate at Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles on Jan. 15 and weighed 7lbs 6oz.

Chicago joins her older siblings North and Saint, completing the West trio of babies. Kardashian celebrated the moment with a subsequent tweet, writing: “North, Saint, & Chi.”
Shortly after Baby Chi’s birth, Kim wrote a letter of gratitude to announce her arrival, thanking her surrogate for making their “dreams come true with the greatest gift one could give.” She also thanked “doctors and nurses for their special care.”
The Wests opted for surrogacy for their third child because Kardashian suffers from a medical complication known as placenta accreta, which would have made a third pregnancy dangerous and potentially life-threatening.
Kim and Kanye have yet to share a photo of the baby. They have reportedly received offers up to $5 million for rights to the first picture, but the power couple is not looking to sell. Instead, they plan on sharing the photo themselves when they’re ready to do so.
