French Montana is officially a U.S. citizen

The rapper was sworn in at a ceremony in New Jersey on Wednesday morning (June 13). As part of his citizenship, he can now vote in the 2020 election and get a U.S. passport.

According to TMZ, his citizenship was a lengthy process. He reportedly applied in February 2017 and had to take the Naturalization Oath of Allegiance.

“Officially a citizen today thank u allah,” said French, who sang his own version of the national anthem in a video.

Montana, who just collaborated with Remy Ma on “New Thang,” was born and raised in Morocco, but immigrated to the U.S. when he was 13.
