High riding FC Ifeanyi Ubah extended their unbeaten run to 10 matches after they defeated Kano Pillars 2-1 yesterday.
The Anambar Warriors pulled down the hard fighting Kano Pillars in the action-packed game at the Ifeanyi Ubah stadium, Nnewi.
What would have been an opener for the home boys came in the first minute of game but was wasted by one of their importees for the Anambra Warriors.
A beautiful combination between Tamen Medrano and Okereke Maduabuchi in fourth minute of play caught the defense line of Kano Pillars flat footed but the goalkeeper rose to the occasion.
Seka Paskal’s goal bound shot was also saved by the goal keeper for the visiting side in the 12th minute
Ismaila Gata however put smiles on the faces of the teeming fans of Anambra Warriors in the 28th minute when he headed home a pullout from Jimoh Oni.Kano Pillars drew level at 53rd minute.
Seka Pascal of the Anambra Warriors was pulled down in the eighteen yard box by a defender of the Kano Pillars and Tamen Medrano wasted no time in converting the spot kick increasing the tally to two goals for the homers.
With this result, FC Ifeanyi Ubah would up from the league table from their eight position.
Meanwhile,Rangers are back on top of the Nigeria league table after they forced a 1-1 draw in the ‘Oriental Derby’ against champions Enyimba.
Rangers are now top of the table with 48 points from 28 matches, a point ahead of Wikki Tourists, who lost their leadership after they lost 3-0 at Akwa United.
In other matches, Shooting Stars defeated Sunshine Stars 2-1, Lobi hammered Warri Wolves 3-0, Plateau upstaged hosts MFM 1-0 and Niger Tornadoes stopped Abia Warriors 2-1.
