Mikey Wax is probably someone you know without realising. He’s included in Rant’s “15 Musicians You’ve Never Heard Of Who Deserve A Grammy”, and his music has been featured in the likes of ‘So You Think You Can Dance’, ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’, ‘The Real World’, ‘Dance Moms’, and other television shows.
He’s also been responsible for the music behind worldwide advertising campaigns for Nike Swim, United Airlines, and Hollister Clothing. His 2014 single, ‘You Lift Me Up’, was chosen for promos for NBA and NCAA basketball games. The track was also streamed millions of times across all manner of platforms: Mikey’s music has been placed everywhere, movies, TV programmes, ads, playlists. No wonder he has a million plus social media following!
Mikey’s latest song, ‘Big Little Life’, was written for his fiancee, and is a statement of fidelity and a declaration of faith that love is all he’s ever going to need. The video for ‘Big Little Life’ is directed by Maria Jorjezian and starts with Mikey in an empty house. As the song moves on, his house becomes a home, filling with furniture, signs of cohabitation, and finally, a wedding cake. In the end, Mikey’s girl is featured, and he sings to her as the pair are surrounded in light. It’s a metaphor for how our lives are made full and meaningful by the people we’re connected with.
